U14 New England Aztec Boys Player Makes US National Pool
NE Aztec methodology helps players earn spots with national and regional teams, Revolution youth teams

Tuesday, July 15, 2008 – Amesbury / Beverly, MA - Christian Sady, a player on the New England Aztec 2008-09 U14 boys team, was selected as a member of the U14 Boys National Team player pool after his performance at a recent identification camp. Christian, who is from North Andover, has played with the Aztecs since he was a U11. He is the second Aztec boys player to be called into a youth national team development pool.

"Christian is a super athlete who is passionate about the game," said Mike Kersker, New England Aztec president. "We are excited for him."

The Aztec methodology has helped develop many of the area's best players in recent years, with more than 120 high school all-stars in the last two years and about 100 players taking their game to the college stage since the program’s inception. Another North Andover resident, Grant Bean, who was on last year's Aztec U14 state semifinalists and will wear the NE Aztec colors with the U15 team in 2008-09, was recently selected to the Region I team, comprised of the best players in 13 Northeast states.

The first New England Aztec youth player picked for the national pool, Peabody's Luke Finkelstein, played with the Aztecs since U11. This year as a U15 he played on the Aztec’s U17 state cup qualifying team and was recently selected to the New England Revolution's U16 youth team along with two other Aztecs. North Andover's Ryan Simpson, the GK on this year's Aztec U14 state semifinalists, was also picked by the Revolution, as was Revere's Douglas Silveira, who this year helped the Aztec U15 boys win MAPLE-D and get promoted to MAPLE Division 2.

The Revolution recently announced their first-ever U16 & U18 boys teams, made up of players from Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire. The Aztecs were the only North of Boston club in the state to have players selected for either team, and only three other clubs in the region had more players selected to be a part of the Revs U16/U18 teams.
