WELCOME TO AZTEC ACADEMY! (formerly Tots and Academy Clinics). From toddlers through 8 years old, our soccer players are introduced to age appropriate training sessions. The U3 toddlers and preschoolers program for ages 2-3 (will accept children slightly younger than 2) engages young soccer players through FUN high energy, skill building games and activities designed to improve running control, balance, agility, ball/eye coordination, listening, working together, core soccer skills and of course scoring goals. These classes run with parent participation as needed to engage and reinforce the activities. Our U5 program for ages 3.5-5 is an independent class introducing foot/eye coordination, controlling the ball, teamwork, and begins the foundation of technical components through FUN skill based activities. If ready, players begin to understand their role in 1v1 challenges as a defender or attacker. The U6 (4.5-6 years) and U8 (6.5-8 years) program sessions are designed to maximize FUN by utilizing the “whole-part-whole” methodology. Coaches begin incorporating age appropriate technical training sessions designed to improve player's foot skills, first touch, ball striking, passing/receiving, dynamic athleticism, and soccer intelligence along with approx. 20 minutes of modified scrimmages. Through small-sided games, players recognize/grasp the fundamental concepts in attack, defense, and possession.
The element of FUN and DISCOVERY is firmly ingrained into each age group celebrating small and large successes.
All programming is run by professional coaches who adhere to the Aztec Mission and follow an established curriculum led by Academy Directors Sandy Mahoney and Jeff Winterton.
